This happened to me quite a few times. This particular night I get a request for Uber X I can seat 4 safely. I pull up there are 3 people they say we are waiting for one more. I am paying no attention to back seat they say ok we are good I start trip get 5 blocks from pick up look in rear view mirror I have 4 in back 1 in front. So what do I do? Do I say something? Do I end trip there and boot them out? I am sure you are all saying I would of. Lol There is 5 of them one of me, oh forgot to mention I am not in a very good neighborhood. Do I call police? I probably won't get past 91 before one of them can take my phone and if I can connect with 911 chances are police will not be there before I am beaten and my car is on cinder blocks. So I take my time ride the right lane nice and slow, stay away from traffic. We get to destination still in another crappy hood. I quickly end trip. The person they are meeting doesn't answer their call so they are not moving out of my car. Uh hello trips over. So they continue to sit in my car for 10 min deciding what to do. Fnally I get another rider so I find my voice and get the courage to say "I got to go" . Still another 2 min. go by. Finally guy comes out and they get their stuff out of my trunk and go on their way. Now I pull up with doors locked and don't unlock until I know how many are getting in my car. I've learned quite a few lessons driving for Uber this past year.

I've picked up strippers twice. One stripper had a fit & started screaming at me because I didnt pick her up at stripper enterance. The app put me in front of the place. I had never been there before. She called me screaming so I drive around to where she told me but there were people all over plus 2 entrances/exits so I ask the first female I see if she was my passenger. She ignores me then I see Mr. Big and Beefy with the tight muscle head shirt on wave me over. She opens door starts screaming why didnt you come here 1st & why were you talking to those people? I try to explain that the pick up location put me up front and what people are you talking about? She screams the people in the car. I reply "what people, what car" . She screams again the people in the car. I am getting annoyed now, because she hasnt stopped screaming at me and what people in what car not a clue who she was referring to. I should've left when I was eligible for cancel fee. We drive a mile GPS says make left turn screaming stripper barks order i will tell you where to go. We go another mile another barking order "pull into that gas station I need something". She needed something all right some manners or a foot up her ass. I pull in to this gas station that is packed has a line of cars to get in (will explain the line of cars at 3am at a gas station another time). I finally get into lot she gets out and I plot my escape. Why should I take her screaming, order barking ass anywhere else they dont pay me enough for this? I put the car in drive ready to pull out and my guilty conscience kicks in. Its 3am you cant do that. Then the little devil on my shoulder says go for it. Good conscience won I stayed but when she got back in I had a little talk with her. By the time i dropped her off she was happy. So happy when she got out she said "i am going to give you 5 stars". I wanted to reply "stick your 5 stars so far up (that thing you shake for money)that they shoot out of your mouth and hand over some of those bills you made tonight. She was out right rude and bossy.
The 2nd stripper I picked up didnt yell at me but she also barked orders. Wont get into much detail as I just wrote a book about stripper #1. Her barking orders were hello as she entered car order #1"put this radio station on, order #2 turn volumn up ill tell you when to stop" #3 dont speak to me while music is on #4 put the heat up. No please no thank you ànd you guessed it no tip. Last but not least we pull up to destination my app shows end trip you've arrived i end it wait for her to get the hell out. But she needs to bark 1 more order #5 "I've never been here before just sit here until I can find my friend then you can leave". Must be a stripper thing to bark orders and not tip. These 2 were in my first month of driving they taught me a few things that night. No, one of those things was not how to work a stripper pole. Thanks for sharing R Paulson. This time I pick up 3 men in there 30's from India at a strip club in Bensalem PA. They get in dont seem really intoxicated. We have a coversation then they are talking amongst themselves. I look at GPS. Its putting me on PA Turnpike. Now where ever I get off I am not going to know where I am so obviously relying on GPS completely. Go up a few exists get off. Its dark as hell. I swear Bucks County suburbs doesnt like or is too cheap to put up street lights. Everything is so dark you see nothing when you look behind you. At this times roads are not only dark but no traffic around. The guys start speaking in their language now, up to this point their conversations were all English even to each other. Before I go further I was under impression destination was one of their homes. Now I have to turn into a dark business complex. Everything closed no one around. My mind thinks they are plotting to hack me up into little pieces lol This is just too shady. No houses, everything dark, no people, no cars. I am so ready to turn around at this point but had no idea where I could go or what i would say to them about turning around. Hearts pounding, nervous. Drive about .5 mile and up on my right was a Hotel. Never so grateful to see one. This was my 2nd experience on a ride that really scared me being a female driver. I think after all my stripper, strip club experiences (as I have 2 other time I had a pick up) I need to stay away from those places. Those rides are either miserable, scarey or just plain strange. Do you think Uber would deactivate me for not driving to or picking up from those places? Lol Yes definately.

I think you should be able to. I have had a few riders who are happy to see a woman driver. I even had a male who said he would rather have a woman because a male driver may be able to over power a male rider. Some of these young girls pass out from drinking. Some are so drunk that a male driver could do something and she probably wouldnt remember. If these women who got raped had a female than the rape would've never happened. Young women tell me all the time some of their male drivers hit on them some are just creepy make them feel uncomfortable. One young woman said her driver bought her cigs alcohol, and tried to kiss her after ride was over. Women tend not to be criminals, rapist, etc. I would think they wouldnt be hitting on male passengers to the point that the msle rider is uncomfortable. Unfortunately these women who have had these issues dont report driver because they are afraid he will come back to their house.

Lilly, Can you please clarify or correct me if I am wrong as I dont want to be giving my riders wrong info. If you schedule a ride more than 60 min. in advance your fare is locked in. If you schedule a ride in less than 60 min. in advance Uber gives you an estimate. Then when you are matched with a driver fare could increase if there is a surge in your area. Thank you.

Uber and Lyft base fares on the longest route to riders destination (time & miles). Most Drivers take the shortest route. Driver is paid for the miles they drove & the amt. of time it took. I arrive at riders destination switch off GPS & go back to Uber or Lyft app. It will say 5 to 15 min until destination. I do the speed limit, I use WAZE app, my car doesn't fly, and its not an amphibious car. Passenger got charged for that 5 to 15 min even though it didnt take that long and they get charged for the miles I didnt travel. This is why drivers are complaining. Uber and Lyft are making a few dollars less than us or the same amount. Nothing we can do as we agreed to be pd per mile and time. Upfront pricing scam. What sucks is riders think we are getting 75%/80% of the fare so they may not be tipping for that reason. Especially on long trips that are 50.00 to 150.00. I am driving for Uber as I text this. When I have some free time later today I will post some screen shots so passengers can see whats going on. O will also screen shot my next trip that says we have X amt of time until destination when we are all ready there.
It depends why you got deactivated. In some instances Uber will allow you to take an online course for $100. After completeing the course you will be able to drive. I dont think Lyft has a course but I am not sure. If you got deactivated because of a false report I hope you have dash cam footage to prove it was false. Must have dash cam. From my understanding its best to go to the Hub, call them, or go on Twitter. Emails and sending messages dont seem to help much. It is not easy to get them to reverse their decision unless you have proof you didnt do anything wrong or if its something they will allow you to take the course. There are quite a few videos on YT regarding deactivation. If you are interested just leave a message in comments and I will post the channels of the You Tubers (Uber Tubers) that are decent men & women that are usually trustworthy with their advice. If you dont mind me asking why did you get deactivated? Are you a newer driver? If you dont want to answer I completely understand. I am not sure how Uber Eats works exactly. I am assuming if there are 2/3 orders from the same restaurant being delivered to same neighborhood it would go to one driver. Again I dont know much about Uber Eats as I just do Uber. I dont want to deliver food for the reasons I am complaining about:)
I used Uber Eats once and Grub Hub once both delivered my food slightly warm. Was not impressed at all. I prefer to order from the business itself & have their delivery people deliver my food. My food seems to arrive hot. I know not every restaurant has their own delivery service so I will pick up my own on the ones that dont deliver. Drivers from my local restaurants get to know their regulars and knows who tip and who tips well. I assume that is why my food gets here hot. My sons and nephews have used Grub Hub & Uber Eats also again food is never hot. I watch McDonalds & WaWa have the order ready for the drivers. The drivers show up 5/10 min after food is prepared & sitting out. I assume that causes issues with the food being less than hot. Restaurant wont care they will blame the drivers & the companies that send the drivers. Drivers who dont know the area well may get lost as GPS can have issues. Local delivery people know the area well & know the shortcuts. They also dont deliver to further away places. For good reasons, food will get cold.
IMO food delivery using all these apps definately need some improvement keeping the food hot. I have also noticed food tends to cost more when you order from certain apps. Grub hub and Door Dash being 2 of them. Not sure about Uber Eats. I see prices are higher than ordering directly from restaurants. A few $ get added to each item. Dont know if this happens with every restaurant but like I said I have noticed a few. I'll stick with the businesses delivery people they employ or pick up my own. When these apps can guarantee hot food I'll try again. Sorry I couldn't answer your question better.
Lyft and Uber operate in Bolivar Ohio. A Bar here in Philadelphia made an area inside the Bar and put Uber signs up. There are a few benches in there where the customers sit and wait. It is inside so customers can stay warm and dry. They can download the apps and request a car when they are ready to leave.
You can find fare estimates and what companies are available here on ride.guru at thise airports. Click RIDE at top left of the page. You can download the apps if you dont all ready have them for free on either Google Play for Android or App Store for IPhone. I assume your daughter is 18 yrs of age or older? If she isn't 18 yrs old driver may refuse to give her a ride as it is against Uber & Lyft's TOS & definately a safety issue.
If you are ordering the Lyft or Uber for her from your account it is a good idea to notify the driver. Once the driver accepts either text or call him/her through the rider app & let them know that they are picking up your daughter who is over 18 and her name. If she is 18/22 yrs of age and looks young driver may ask for ID. Make sure you give your daughter the name of the driver, color, make, model, and license plate. I would also screenshot the drivers pic and send it to her.
PLEASE, I cannot stress how important this is for her safety. Send her that info I mentioned above. Remind her to make sure it ALL MATCHES. If something doesn't match up tell her NOT to GET IN that CAR. Everything in the rider up should match. There is no reason for it not to match. Airports are busy and easier for predators to take advantage. Do not take cash rides. Do not let driver tell her he can go off the app and do it for cash as the ride is not being tracked & Uber or Lyft isn't insuring that ride. Anything (Bad) can then happen.
Not trying to frighten you but I am assuming she is on the younger side. Only 1 in (approx) 5 female riders I get checks to make sure I am the correct driver & everything matches. I assume its because I am a female driver so they trust me. But trust no one male /female match everything before getting into car. I follow the news and what goes on and I have a 22yr old daughter. Just trying to keep these women safe.
I assume your horrible experience was with Lyft or Uber. You can try emailing them although that probsbly will do nothing. Go on Twitter both companies tend to do something about an issue when people tweet about it.
I do like the new statement but they needed to leave what the passenger pays. It's obvious why they did it. They were exposed over and over again showing they were taking more than the 20%/25% of the fare. I have to give them credit for removing it. Why? At least they realized the drivets knew what was going on. Uber on the other still shows us but thinks we are too stupid and dont know how to add and subtract. Uber doesn't give a damn they openly steal. They also lie about what riders are paying I have seen it on 3 occassions. They show drivers a surge (ex. 6.00) but charge rider (ex. $30.00) where is the other 24.00 going? We all know that answer. I think it may cost us our tips when the rider is paying a $30 surge and thinks the driver is getting all that. Why would they top us then? That $30 doesnt show anywhere in our app. I posted screenshots in a thread on the forum. I also believe we are being screwed out of tips by Uber CS reps and Ubers app glitches which also screws drivers on tips. Also have proof of that along with CS rep lying. I confronted the CS rep and got no response back.
Dara does these interviews they show on YT on how Uber is honest and transparent. They have drivers come and help them when they do things for the drivers to make it better. I need one of my puke bags I carry for my drunk riders. Dara is a pathological liar. I think he believes his own BS. His ego has become way over the top. I dont think he will be happy until he is writtten in the history books. I wouldnt be surprised if he had a painting of himself hanging over his fireplace. He has the money although I am sure in his eyes it isnt enough. He just wants more power now. 🤢🤢🤮🤮
Try calling Uber. If that dont work go on Twitter and send out a tweet that someone hacked your account. I am hearing both Uber and Lyft address issues rather quickly if you put it on Twitter.
How far is it from one place to the next? I live in the States. Just curious. You may find a driver to go for it. You would have to set it up ahead of time. Sure it would be costly though. Driver wouldnt get trips on the way back probably have to pay distance and time back. There are drivers that would do it though.
The only other suggestion I can give you but its a long shot is there is s You Tuber (Uber Tuber) from LA that does rideshare videos. You can try posting something on his YT Channel as I believe he is from LA or his FB group. YT Channel is "The Rideshare Professor". It cant hurt. I assume he has a big following in LA. He has lots of subs. I am in Philadelphia sorry I cannot be of anymore help.
I would try posting something on FB ask people to share the post. It will reach a bigger crowd. How did you get in touch with Lyft? If you email them it is probably being read by AI or their CS reps in another country. Go to Twitter and post. They tend to do something when someone post issues on there. They dont want the public (their riders) to think they dont handle things appropriately. They usually answer fairly quickly. Another option is to see if there is a Lyft Hub near you. If there is one you can get to that is another option. Have you called them? If all these suggestions fail I think you will have to go to police as one of these suggestions should help. If all this fails you can post again here and Ill try to see if I cant get in touch with them somehow. I have found a way to get in touch with an English speaking representative here in the states. If it still works.
Agreed. Unfortunately for some drivers they need a repair on their car to be able to drive. Their credit may not be the best. Uber will make these loans look good and make it easy to get one. My advice WATCH OUT. Look into everything and anything else before you borrow $ from them. Exhaust every avenue before you accept money from them. The terms on their loans will be highway robbery. Yet they will get away with it like they get away with everything else. Uber needs to be profitable and its not looking good they are getting involved with whatever they can. I am sure the investors are going to stop believing the BS the CEO's are shoveling.
I cant see how to fix this. NYC for example no where to park to get out to use a RE especially if you dont know the city. I've trued those apps they have for finding a bathroom and they suck. Certain parts of Philly they no longer allow people to use the restrooms because the addicts was either shooting up drugs or they were finding addicts OD or dead. Sad. I dont see a fix for this situation. Even if you find a bathroom most are filthy. Best of luck. It would be awesome if someone could come up with a solution.
I cant pee in a bottle:) They do make female urine bags and puke bags can be used also. Still you would have to find a place to be able to stand and not be seen. Lol Guys can yse whats called a Texas Catheter. Looks like a condom attached to a bag. The male puts it in like a condom and straps bag to his leg. We used them in the hospital. Only draw back was they didnt always stay secure for obvious reasons:) Years ago (dont know if they still do) they marketed them as "Stadium Buddy" a male could go to a football game and not have to get up to use bathroom. Dont know if this became "a thing" but sounds totally ridiculous & lazy to me. Lol
Lyft was supposed to start putting portable toilets around with food trucks and little rest areas. Dont remember where they were doing this. They couldnt put enough around to help every driver. Just like Ubers snack thing they added. Everytime I go offline I can click "get a snack". You get a free soda and if you are up there on Uber pro you can get a free cookie. Lol This idea is laughable at best. For the hell of it I click get a snack once in awhile to see how far it is to get a free soda (don't drink soda) coffee or tea would be a better option IMO. I've tried it in many different areas the closest I have come to a Subway (that seems to be the go to place here in Philly and NJ) is 12 miles away. Who in their right mind would drive 12 miles for a sida and a cookie? They need to add more places and offer better drinks especially since winter is coming:) Nice try Uber.
My neighbor did this for a few months. Enjoyed it as it got her out of the house and people usually tipped her everytime. She had a dog so went out fir walks anyway. Good idea for retired people or kids in college. On inclement weather days she stayed home. If you like animals, want to make a few $, and get some exercise not a bad idea. Big cities where people have $, work long hrs, and dont have a park very close must be good places to do this.
UBER ADDS BRING YOUR PET - non service animals
Last month in Philly Uber added "pets". You can opt in or opt out. If someone wants to bring a pet along thats not a service animal the rider can order an Uber for a few dollars more to bring the animal. It alerts the driver and you get a few $ more. I cant see people paying the extra $ as they just bring the animal anyway or says its a service animal. The few people that have brought non service animals along usually asked before they tried putting them in to my car.
I had one lady literally toss 2 smalls dogs in my car with wet paws, say "ill be back" and went back inside the house. The one dog jumped in my lap with wet paws. The first 20 min into the ride was really strange. She brought 3 bags of unooened mail with her and proceeded to open it & rip it up all over my back seat as she talked in a child's voice to the dogs". I thought I was in an episide of "Pranked". Then she asked to stop & get coffee. We pull up I park, a few minutes go by she asks "are you going in for me"? I said no as I was not leaving my car unattended with a stranger. She took the one dog & tossed her into my lap & said "guess you are holding her then". Again wet dog in my lap. Things got stranger right after getting her coffee. Too much to get into as this post is long enough:) Ten minutes after her getting her coffee things took a turn. She became normal. Cleaned up every last scrap of mail, stopped talking to dogs in child like voice, and had a normal intelligent conversation. She either desperately needed her Starbucks coffee in the morning or she took her meds once she got the coffee. Who knew Starbucks coffee can help someone that much:) She did add a 25% tip at end of ride.
Knew it was only a matter of time before the noise became annoying. As for the crash a helicopter (not Uber) did crash in NY over the summer. Yes it was a mess. Yes someone was killed. I'll search for article a little later and atrach it to the post.
Thank you for sharing. When I head out at 1am to pick up mostly male passengers you know what will be running through my head. Thanks for those thoughts:) BTW I drive on very dark deserted streets in the middle of nowhere with no street lights. There is the occassional cop that is hiding but he is probably napping also. We need to get bullet proof plexiglass dividers in our cars with seperate locks on front passenger & drivers doors:) So ridiculous that we have to put up with all the BS & then the cherry on top is worrying about getting raped, shot, stabbed, robbed, and the list goes on.
When I have a few minutes on my break tonight I have some interesting screenshots. They fell into my hands proving Uber is showing a $8 surge but charging rider much more for that surge. I have 2 other instances of them doing it on 2 other Saturday nights also.
There is also a message sent to CS. Instead of them actually looking into the issue they just sent the rider a BS answer. It would've cost the driver his tip but the rider wasnt buying the answer they got from CS and finally got the tip to go through. You know all those riders "I'll tip you in the app" and dont? Some may actually be telling the truth but because of a glitch they cant tip or because Uber Support lied about why they couldnt tip. I get a majority of them really have no intention on tipping. Lets just say 1 in 10 actually will tip but because of Uber Support they cant. How much is the driver losing everyday? This just gets more frustrating everyday. Love when Uber CS says "I understand your frustration" or "I am sorry for your frustration". NO you dont understand unless you drive for Uber. Your not sorry because you dont actually try and find the answer or you dont actually fix the problem. Again more frustrating everyday. Then there is a bridge that started charging a toll back in July 2019. Numerous messages have been sent, screenshots have been sent of the new toll, the bridge, the price, etc... Countless messages have to be sent because no driver automatically gets reimbursed like we are suppose to. We have to reach out to support to get it. It usually involves sending 1 to 3 messages to receive toll. It just doesnt stop. Ill post all this overnight and during the day tomorrow.
If they offered it in my market I would definitely decline the rides in bad hoods. There are particular neighborhoods that you need a bullet proof car, full body armor, and you better be carrying (of course this is against Uber's TOS). I know Uber & Lyft would call this destination discrimination but no amount of $ is worth my life or anyone elses. In Philly someone is shot or stabbed almost everyday here. Not only is adults being murdered but kids are getting shot & killed in the crossfire. No where is 100% safe but to purposely drive in some of these hoods is suicide.
I wait for rides in a safe neighborhood in a WaWa parking lot. I got to know the market I drive in very well. I can tell on a majority of my request where the destination will be by the time of day/night it is, where I am positioned, and where I am picking up from. Unfortunately I can only tell on 40+ min trips on Uber & 30+/45+ min trips on Lyft. I like long trips but sometimes I may have a 15/20 min wait time for these trips. Anytime the wait time exceeds 20 min I relocate a few miles away. During times I have a 15/20 min wait I try to do constructive things. Vacuum the car, clean/detail the inside, waterless car wash it, stretch, take a walk, read, or catch up with emails & texts, pay bills. When I get home I then have free time all my other things that keep me busy at home are done. By driving this way, looking at passenger ratings, and not picking riders up with fake names I feel safer on the road. I have 4 kids (3 are adults). I do not want them to wake up to police knocking at their door to be told their mom is dead. She took a rider to North Philly (Heroin Hub of the Eastern part of US) and was caught in the crossfire of a gun fight over drugs.
With that being said I would definitely use that info to stay out of certain areas. I cannot blame any driver who dont want to go to those hoods. Uber & Lyft dont dont care about the drivers. They dont care if we die, where they are asking us to drive. It is against their TOS to protect ourselves. It's right there in black & white NO WEAPONS.
I have to ask what is CA drivers going to lose to get this info? What is the price they will pay for it? As soon as Uber sees there is any type of issue for them or the rider will they take it away? Anything Uber or Lyft gives to benefit a driver it comes with a price tag. How high will this one be? I hope it does work out for the drivers and they dont lose anything because of it.
No its not per person. Uber pool is you +1, Uber X up to 4 riders, Uber XL up to 6 people. Lyft shared you +1, Lyft up to 4, Lyft XL up to 6 people.
There are Uber Black Car (4) Uber Black SUV (6) these 2 choices are more expensive but Car/SUV are new higher end vehicles.

I very rarely used public restrooms in the past unless an absolute emergency. After driving these past few years there hasn't been much of a choice. I've discovered that it is very rare people wash their hands including employees that touch your food. The ones that do rinse them under cold water with many not even with soap. I've worked in the health care field since the age of 14. I am sure I dont need to remind anyone of the germs and bacteria that is in a bathroom. I just cannot understand why when using a public restroom why you would not wash your hands. It's absolutely disgusting. Not only is that disgusting bit the other things I have seen are more disgusting. Unflushed toilets, feces on the seat, on the walls, urine on the seat & floor etc... Still trying to understand what kind of person thinks this ok. IAs anyone who follows ride guru I dont stand up for Uber. This may be the 2nd time. However this time I get it. With that being said I totally understand why Uber or any company would have separate bathrooms. You may not be that type of person who does the things I mentioned above but trust me there are people out there who are disgusting with very questionable or no good hygiene habits.
Did anyone drive on Wednesday? Did you drive at night dropping off or picking up from bars? I decided to stay away from bar trips. Didnt feel like dealing with drunks. Did my regular airport pick ups (no queue where I pick up from) and drop offs. Had all great riders. Traffic wasn't too bad. All long rides 35+ min. I had one rider that didnt tip. Two of my riders tipped me $20 one was a $35 ride the other was $37. The rest were 20%. All my rides were on Lyft except 1. The Uber rider did tip he was one of my $20 tippers. The 1 ride that didnt tip was Lyft. Hoping the rest of the weekend is somewhat busy with everyone going home or coming back. Be nice if tips like that continue through the holidays. Hope everyone had a nice holiday and made good money.
