Is driving for uber and lyft safe? I keep hearing these horror stories of drivers getting shot because passengers get angry.

In the news I hear about how passengers can steal stuff from drivers, and even hurt them violently. Is this something that is safe for me to do? I don't want my family to worry.

don't be scared, just drive during the daytime hours and not in the middle of the night when no one is on the road

A double camera one side facing rear seat and other facing the road is the way to go for safety.

Yeah, the 360 is definitely what you need.  plus in-cabin sound.

will uber pay for me to have my own camera in the car to ensure my safety?

No, Uber does not pay for security systems for their drivers such as in-car cameras. This is an investment you will need to make on your own and decide if it is worth it.

in general, driving for uber and lyft is pretty safe. the stories you hear about are pretty rare, but reporters don't post about rideshare drivers with no drama

Here I thought it was the drivers shooting riders?  I mean why would passengers be shooting riders?  They are the ones who called  one because he needs a ride.

I've never heard of people preying on a service provider.  Isn't it usually the other way?  (drivers become drivers to become a stalker.)

That doesn't make any sense.  Prositutes are killed all the time.  They are a service provider.

Drivers become drivers to drive.  They don't go through that trouble to just kill someone,...right?
