They are cautious but they are definitely eyeing it for sure. They are going into Australia and England, both English speaking and of western culture. Their thought is that if they can be successful there, they can be successul in the United States.
This is a great strategic move, not just because they can try the markets and the populace that are similar to US but also because they can form relationships and alliances with businesses that also do work in US. Companies like Didi are approaching travel websites like Obitz and Expedia to form alliances in preparation to attach Uber.
Jeez, this is a bit sobering for some reason. I usually welcome competition but something feels weird about this. I wonder what it is.
Great response. I think they will be on the US shores before the end of 2019. Uber is targetting to IPO before that happens for sure.
I'd love to see them enter the US market ASAP. Such would really mess up Ubers plans for a 2019 IPO, and would threated to steal away all of the abused drivers that stick with Uber because few other options are available.
If an option like Didi presented itself, I'd certainly be open to significantly cutting back on Uber/Lyft.

As much as I hate Uber, they are an American company I prefer to support when things blow up. Lyft has way too much foreign money in it.

You are right. I think they are. They're a Japanese conglomerate though, not Chinese.
In fact, they have a huge stake in Didi as well. Same parent. That's a bit awkward.
